About me

Growing up in rural Nova Scotia, I was aware of our small economy and higher rates of unemployment from a young age. I knew early on that I wanted to do work that would contribute to the local economy and help companies and employees be more successful.

Like many young Nova Scotians, I moved to western Canada and attended Capilano University where I graduated from their business program with a marketing major. An early opportunity with a west coast management consulting firm allowed me to work on market research projects that were stimulating, helped me hone my writing skills and ability to think strategically while allowing me to gain an appreciation for how critical people were in the execution of strategic plans. I enrolled in Simon Fraser University’s psychology undergraduate degree program for three years before returning to Halifax where I graduated from Saint Mary’s University in Human Resource management.

As time went on, I focused on employment opportunities with well managed, progressive companies that challenged me and offered great opportunities to learn and grow. I have worked in the private and public sectors and a broad range of industries for organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies to start-up small businesses; from marine transportation and financial services to working as a consultant for regional and national consulting firms.

I enjoy connecting at all levels of the organization and creating alignment between business strategy, customers, and employees. I am fulfilled by work that contributes to the growth of local employers and strengthens our economy while providing meaningful work and positive environments for people.

I am a 2023 Royal Bank of Canada nominee for the Women of Influence Award, an entrepreneur and founder of THE SHE SHED Home & Garden. www.thesheshed.com
