Growing up in rural Nova Scotia, I was aware of our small economy and higher rates of unemployment from a young age. I knew early on that I wanted to do work that would contribute to the local economy and help companies and employees be more successful.
Like many young Nova Scotians, I moved to western Canada after graduation. An early opportunity with a west coast management consulting firm allowed me to work on market research projects that were stimulating, gave me a sense of purpose and helped me hone my writing skills and ability to think strategically.
As time went on, I focused on employment opportunities that allowed me to gain hands-on experience that helps me be a better consultant. I worked for excellent companies that challenged me to stretch myself and offered great opportunities to learn and grow. They ranged from Fortune 500 companies to start-up small businesses; from transportation and financial services to working as a consultant for regional and national firms.
I enjoy connecting at all levels of the organisation and creating alignment between business strategy and employees. I'm am fulfilled by work that contributes to the growth of local employers and strengthens our economy while providing meaningful work and positive environments for people.
